Privacy Policy

UseItUp helps you track the groceries you already have, use them before they expire, and see what you save. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
The grocery items you save (name, category, price, quantity, and dates) and, if you choose to sign in, your Apple account identifier. By default you use the app as an anonymous guest, with no personal account. If you join the beta on this website, we also store the email address you give us, to send you an invite.
Your photos
When you scan a receipt or take a fridge photo, the image is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to extract the items, then discarded. We do not store your photos, and they are not used to train AI models.
Where your data lives
Your items are stored in our database hosted in Zürich, Switzerland. Each account can only access its own data.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Deleting your data
Sign out of the app any time to start fresh. To delete your account, your saved items, or your beta email, contact us at the address below and we'll remove them.
Shelf-life estimates
Expiry dates in the app are estimates based on food category, to help you use things in time. They are guidance, not food-safety advice — when in doubt, use your senses.
